About

Wednesday 6th November | 2024 | 7.30pm
Metronome
£20.00 + booking fee

James Toseland is the youngest ever World Superbike Champion at the age of 23 years of age and one of only 2 riders ever to win The World Superbike Championship on more than one manufacturer. He won his first World Championship in 2004 with Ducati and his second with Honda in 2007.

After being forced to retire from racing in 2011 from a serious wrist injury he turned his ambition to music, forming the band Toseland who achieved significant success both live and on record.

James Toseland, an accomplished pianist, began his full-time music career by collaborating with Little Angels legend Toby Jepson to write an album packed with hard/classic rock and power ballads. He used the grit, determination and will to succeed that made him a double World Superbike Champion to focus on pursuing his first passion in life: music.

Toseland's first album, "Renegade", produced 3 rock radio hits and built a him a reputation among rock circles as a consummate frontman, rapidly building a fierce following on the live circuit. Tours and shows with the likes of Aerosmith, Deep Purple, Status Quo, Skid Row, The Darkness, Black Stone Cherry and Theory of a Deadman, were interspersed with UK headline tours in increasingly large venues. Second album "Cradle The Rage" featured more radio hits, and a slightly more commercial edge.

In 2017, the song "We'll Stop At Nothing" was selected to be the anthem of the Special Olympics and was re-recorded with a full choir, with a fabulous performance launching the event at Sheffield's Bramall Lane. Shortly after that triumph, complications with James' wrist injury, alongside a growth in TV commitments led to band activity being put on hold.

For the past three years James has been commentator and pundit on the World Superbike show on Eurosport/Discovery, travelling the world to cover all of the races live throughout the season. James returned to performing in July this year, when he was very proud to accept an invitation to sing the National Anthem at the Donington round of World Superbikes.

In November 2024 he sets out on a UK tour, which will feature his first public performances since 2017. An Evening With James Toseland is an event that takes in his whole career, on bikes and on stage. James will be performing a handful of songs, both old and new, acoustically at the piano, he will be in conversation with Eurosport's Greg Haines about his career and will of course be answering a wide range of questions from the audience. The tour will be accompanied by a new acoustic EP which will be available to buy at the shows.
