Spectacular Elizabethan Mansion and Deer Park set in the beautiful suburbs of Nottingham.

Wollaton Hall is one of the country’s finest Grade I listed Elizabethan buildings with the largest dedicated Natural History Museum in Nottinghamshire. Herds of deer and a range of wildlife roam 500 acres of parkland at Wollaton, which is home to all kinds of habitats, including grassland, wetland and woodland

Alongside the Hall's Natural History Museum, Wollaton Hall & Deer Park includes Formal Gardens, play areas , cafés, retail shops & toilet facilities, so you can enjoy the park & its many facilities safely.

From Tuesday 1st April 2025 - Brand new admission arrangements will mean that an adult pays £15 once to visit all year, inside Wollaton Hall, while accompanied children 15 years & under go free (up to three children per paying adult) – making it a great, affordable family-friendly day out. Inside the Hall will offer a free under 5s activity zone, and a free children’s trail sheet full of activities to engage and entertain little ones. Entrance to the Wollaton Deer Park & Grounds will remain free. Book your admission here.

Wollaton Hall is was designed by Robert Smythson and built by Sir Francis Willoughby between 1580 and 1588 for his family. Now a prominent Grade One listed building, the stunning Hall houses the city's Natural History Museum along with reconstructed room settings.

Standing on a natural hill three miles west of Nottingham City Centre, Wollaton Hall is set in five hundred acres of spectacular gardens and parkland. The hall was used as the setting for Wayne Manor in the 2012 Batman film, Dark Knight Rises

Things to see and do

On site, in addition to the historic hall and its sumptuous grounds, visitors will find Nottingham's Natural History Museum, Nottingham's Industrial Museum (open the last Sunday of each month for Sunday Steamings) and the Yard Gallery (open for special events – please enquire for more details).

Park Opening Times

Gates open - Weekdays at 8am and Weekends & Bank Holidays at 9am.

Hidden History Tour

11 am (daily)

Uncover lesser known reaches of the much loved Wollaton Hall and discover more of it's long history since it was completed in 1588

The tour includes a visit to the the Tudor Kitchen, the Admiral's Bath and the Prospect Room which is the hugely impressive room at the centre and top of the hall.

Adult: £15, Child (3 - 15 years): £5. Lasts approximately 45 minutes - 1 hour, maximum capacity 25 per tour.

Wollaton’s Botanic Garden

The small walled botanic garden, situated adjacent to the stable block, has been developed and cared for by volunteers from the Nottingham Branch of the Hardy Plant Society since the early 1980s. This attractive garden is open on Sundays from 2.00 - 4.00pm between April and September. Plant sales raise money to maintain the garden.

Accessibility:

The Park is mainly fully accessible for wheelchair users. There are designated blue badge parking spaces in all car parks and right in front of the Hall building (subject ti time limit).  There are walkways leading to most sections in the park that are wheelchair friendly. Wollaton has toilets in 3 locations - the disabled toilets can be accessed with a radar key and there is a Changing Places toilet in the lower courtyard. The shops and café are accessible in a wheelchair. The Hall museum can be accessed via the access lift and there is an internal lift that runs between the 3 floors of the museum.
