The Village of East Markham is located near Tuxford and Retford in north Nottinghamshire and sits within the Bassetlaw district. A conservation area, it has good walking and cycling routes and is very picturesque.
Local attractions include Church Spa which offers spa facilities in a former methodist church on a day visit basis and as a bed and breakfast basis for overnight stays. It has a sister village, West Markham. East Markham's other places of notable interest include the Church of St John the Baptist, its village hall, a charity playgroup and a primary school. There is also a bowls club, tennis courts and a football pitch.
Cleveland Mill is a notable landmark within the village - now a house, it used to be a working mill and constructed in 1837. Powered by wind until 1920 and then powered by steam and oil engines after, until it was sold as a house in 1976.
