"For my money, London-born Gabriel Latchin is the best straight-ahead jazz pianist to appear in the past few years... I'll Be Home for Christmas – the gift that keeps on giving" - Dave Gelly, The Observer ★★★★
Chase away the winter chill with the latest album from the Gabriel Latchin Trio. I'll Be Home for Christmas is a heart-warming collection of swinging holiday tunes. Expect new arrangements of classic favourites as Latchin delivers his signature straight-ahead style.
The Gabriel Latchin Trio is now a major highlight on the UK jazz scene, with Latchin's playing taking inspiration from Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson and Herbie Hancock. His international presence is growing fast with over 20 million streams online to date.
The trio showcased this set on a sell-out show last Christmas at Pizza Express, London. Due to popular demand, they took to the studio to bring us this joyous holiday treat.
"Need a break from the familiar holiday piano jazz from the likes of Vince Guaraldi and Oscar Peterson? If so, turn to Gabriel Latchin's new album for a blast of fresh, wintry air…this stalwart on the London jazz scene exhibits a swinging dynamism and a cool, relaxed temperament." – Frank-John Hadley, DownBeat (USA)
"Just for fun, the British rising star imagines seasonal standards as other jazz pianists might have played them. He fuses 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town' with 'Blue Monk', and 'I'll Be Home for Christmas' with Bill Evans's 'Peace Piece', but the swing and sparkle is all his own" – Chris Pearson, The Times ★★★★
"Latchin's unpretentious piano performance embodies the beauty of modern jazz. Not only is his handling of standards through tempo changes pleasing to the ear, this is a masterpiece that shows the true skill of his composition" – Jazz Japan, Hiroki Sugita
