Christmas is coming to Broxtowe, starting with the festivities in Stapleford!
Broxtowe’s much-anticipated Christmas Lights Switch-On events kick off in Stapleford on Victoria Street, the Victoria Street car park, and Walter Parker VC Memorial Square.
The Christmas market opens at 12pm, offering a range of festive treats and gifts. Visitors can enjoy delicious hot food, sweets, and donuts, as well as browse various community stalls. Children can get into the holiday spirit with face painting and glitter tattoos.
Santa Claus will make a special appearance at his grotto inside The Stapleford & Bramcote Conservative Club. From 2pm to 4:30pm, children can meet Santa, share their Christmas wishes, and experience the holiday magic. Sensory sessions will be available from 1pm to 2pm for those needing a more accessible environment, with free bookings on Eventbrite on a first-come, first-served basis.
The main festivities start at 4:30pm at the Victoria Street car park, featuring live entertainment, children’s fairground rides, festive street theater, and interactive activities like the "Elves and the Goodometer." A human nativity trail, organized by the Stapleford Churches, will be part of the celebration, along with caroling by Footlights, filling the air with classic Christmas tunes. The evening concludes with a lively performance by the six-piece band The SKAS, bringing the best of Ska and 2Tone music.
The Christmas Lights Switch-On ceremony, led by the Mayor of Broxtowe and the Stapleford Town Mayor, will be held at 5:30pm, followed by a grand firework display at 6:30pm.
For updates, follow Broxtowe Borough Council on Facebook or visit the website. Organized by Broxtowe Borough Council in partnership with the Stapleford Christmas Lights Steering Group and Stapleford Town Council, the event is sponsored by Robert Ellis Stapleford, with additional support from Poundstretcher and the Stapleford Community Group.
Please note: Victoria Street will be closed from 9am to 9pm, and the Victoria Street Car Park will be closed all day. Affected residents will be notified by letter. Don’t miss this magical day of Christmas fun!
