Go back in time this Father's Day and catch the Knights' Tournament at Bolsover Castle from Saturday 15th - Sunday 16th June. Get up close to the action as rival knights compete in the ultimate test of strength and skill at Bolsover Castle's Knights’ Tournament. Four armoured knights and their squires will clash in four gruelling rounds, and you’ll be transported back to the 15th century as you experience the pageantry, excitement and action of the fearsome tournaments that took place at the castle in days gone by. 

For the Tennis fans among us the Rothesday Open at Nottingham Tennis Centre will be wrapping up its final day. A great opportunity to watch some of the worlds best players duel for trophies. If you also want to enjoy some nature and artistic beauty, Lakeside Arts Gallery and Highfields Park & boating lake is just across the road!

If you're looking for extra bonding time, why not try out the brand new Guilty?! A National Justice Museum Escape Room? Visit Newstead Abbey and enjoy their Byron at Newstead events. Newstead Abbey was once home to the infamous Romantic poet Lord Byron. To celebrate the Bicentenary of Lord Byon in 2024, they are hosting a range of fantastic events throughout the year allowing you to get closer than ever before to the man behind the celebrity, including 'Object of the Month'. Get active and experience the great outdoors...

If you want to explore the great outdoors with dad, there are plenty of opportunities across the county. Celebrate National Bike Week with a cycling trip through Sherwood Forest, Clumber Park and the Holme Pierrepont Country Park, home of the National Water Sports Centre, which comes highly recommended with many cycling trails on offer depending on your level of cycling experience.

The Sherwood Forest Trust Woodland Festival runs from Saturday 15th June to Sunday 16th June at Thoresby Park. The festival is focused on re-telling the story of the forest and how it has supported Nottinghamshire communities throughout the ages, linking their daily lives with its produce and products. It also looks to the future and the critical importance of trees and woodland for helping with climate change and biodiversity loss. The event is arguably more important now than ever before!

If running is more your thing, why not challenge dad to the Clumber Park Parkrun, a FREE weekly 5km event for runners of all standards which takes place every Saturday in Clumber Park? It's the perfect way for you to justify that huge Sunday Lunch the following day...

And for all of those adrenalin seekers, get close to nature and enjoy monkeying around in the trees at Go Ape!
